Communities of Practice 2016-2017

OCTOBER 14, 2016
Fifty participants enjoyed dinner and conversation at Early LCC at Lansing Community College with their Community of Practice (CoP) colleagues.
Mary Lynn Gottler welcomed the group and presented chandeliers to Michigan Inspirations foounding centers that were created by UM Flint from recycled water bottles and purchased by Renae Slaton and family as gifts.
Lydia Saldivar, Director of Early LCC, introduced Reflecting in Communities of Practice, by Margie Carter and Deb Curtis. We then broke into seven Communities and established our group agreements. Discussion of Chapter One was brief, due to the time. Each group was led by a facilitator who will continue with the group throughout the year. The following members were facilitators, most of whom trained with Margie and Deb at the Institute in June.
Group 1: Mary Lynn Gottler Group 2: Denise Graham & Shelly Humphrey Group 3: Dayle Mc Leod Group 4: Linda Mora Group 5: Laura Wagonlander Group 6: Heidi Jordan Group 7: Lydia Saldivar
It was decided that we would continue with Chapter One at our November 18 meeting at North Campus Children’s Center at University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Groups will continue with their facilitator and we welcome others to join us. You can contact Julia Koumbassa ( for information on the November 18 meeting.
